PURPOSE:To increase the inner capacity and also prevent an increase of the tube thickness by forming the exhaust tube of an evacuated fluorescent display tube in an elliptic cross section at least at the connection section with an envelope. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust tube 5 provided at the side of an envelope has a pinching section 5a with an elliptic cross section and an exhaust pump fitting section 5b with a circular cross section. In addition, the pinching section 5a is pinched by a face glass 1 and an anode substrate 3 together with a spacer 2. Thereby, if the cross section area of the exhaust tube is made equal to that with a circular shape, the tube thickness can be made thinner, and even at a fluorescent character display tube with a large inner capacity, the tube thickness can be made thin. |
