A grinding machine for grinding the rake face of helical-fluted tools, in particular tooth-profile hobbing cutters, contains a machine table which is mounted in a longitudinally displaceable manner on a machine frame and carries a bearing and drive device for the tool to be ground. In addition, a rest is displaceably mounted on the machine frame transversely to the longitudinal axis of the tool. The rest supports a rotationally driven grinding wheel, which can be brought into engagement with the tool, for grinding the tooth face (rake face) of the tool, in which arrangement a reciprocating rotary movement corresponding to the helical flute as well as a longitudinal movement (by means of the reciprocating movement of the machine table) relative to the grinding wheel fed in to the rake face are imparted during the grinding to the tool arranged on the machine table. In order to grind rake faces whose tolerances are as close as possible, a grinding-wheel dressing attachment is arranged in a fixed position on the machine table. When the tool is clamped in place, the dressing diamond of the dressing attachment can be brought into engagement with the working face of the grinding wheel for re-sharpening and polishing the same. The dressing attachment can be operationally coupled to the rotary movement of the tool and contains a straight-line mechanism which oscillates in accordance with the rotary movement of the tool and in which the dressing diamond is mounted, which with its tip profiles the working face of the grinding wheel and can be moved in a plane, ...
