PURPOSE:To save memory capacity by setting up and scanning a mask having a prescribed vidual field, and scanning a picture in the mask after checking the existence of a specific point in the vidual field of the mask. CONSTITUTION:The mask 6 having a square vidual field consisting of vertical (a) bits and horizontal (b) bits is scanned horizontally on a screen 60 including a seal picture, and when a pattern part 7 having a specific point is included in the vidual field of the mask 6, the specific point in the mask 6 is extracted as coordinate data. After detecting black picture element points Q, R located on both the ends of one side of the mask 6 including the pattern part 7, relative coordinates (x0, y0) in the mask 6 at the center point S between the points Q, R is calculated. Subsequently, the relative coordinates of respective outline points of the pattern 7 are calculated by the distance di from the center point S and the maximum value is fixed as the specific point P. The relative coordinates of the specific points P are converted into the absolute coordinates on the screen 60 and the converted coordinates are stored in a picture memory. |
