PURPOSE:To invert the color of a character with low power consumption by masking the surface of a display device except a display character or a small range surrounding the display character with a mask. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 2' is provided on a base 4, and a partitioning plate 5 is joined between the electode 2' and a transparent electrode 2, and a liquid crystal 3 is packed in the space. A black mask 1 is provided on the upper face of the transparent electrode 2 except the display region of a character 1'. When an electric signal impressed to the electrodes 2 and 2' is inverted by an inverter, the character is displayed in white on the black background because the part except the character 1' is masked with black, and used power is not increased. |
