摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to freely change the size of a droplet, by applying additional pulse voltage having polarity the same to main pulse voltage and for determining the leading end position of the liquid in a nozzle to an electromechanical converter prior to applying said main pulse voltage. CONSTITUTION:Even if the same pulse voltage is applied to an electromechanical converter, the sizes of the droplets discharged from a nozzle are different in such a state that the ink liquid 2 in the nozzle 1 fills the same over the leading end thereof and in such a state that the leading end of said ink liquid 2 is present at a position retracted over a distance (l) from the leading end of the nozzle 1. By applying addition pulse voltage to a piezoelectric crystal 7, the ink liquid 2 is vibrated and repeats reciprocal motion in the nozzle 1. Because the leading end position of the ink liquid 2 in the nozzle 1 is different by the timewise difference after the additional pulse voltage is applied, by adjusting the interval between times when the additional pulse voltage and the main pulse voltage are applied, the size of the droplet discharged from the nozzle 1 can be controlled.
