A loom warp tensioning appts. comprises a pivotal tension lever(13) with a warp-engaging roller916), and a weighted lever(17) linked to the tension lever. Between the tension lever and the weighted lever is a system for varying the lever ratio. Pref. the system comprises a slot(26a) in the tension lever along which the pivot pin(31) of a link can be adjusted and positioned; the link itself pref. also being length-adjustable by a turn-buckle. Alternatively, the respective ends of a link can be pivotally connected to any one of the rows of holes in the tension lever and the weighted lever.
