PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording medium which does not require any developing process with a simple manufacturing method and to permit rewriting by using a composite oxide of silver and a group (a) element M of periodic table in constituting a photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive composite oxide consisting of silver and a group (a) element can be synthesized easily in the form of a powder material by a direct calcination method or ion subtn. method. When such powder photosensitive material is irradiated by visible light or, depending upon the kind of material, by near IR light, the reflectivity in a visible region and a near IR region is considerably decreased over a wide range and recording is made on said material. Readout of the record is accomposhed by a very weak light source or using a light source having the wavelength longer than the upper limit wavelength for the photosensitization of the material and detecting the difference in reflectivity. When a spectral characteristic curve 1 for diffusion reflection of the powder of Ag3VO4 and a spectral characteristic curve 2 for reflection after irradiation of 10J/cm<2> halogen lamp are compared, the reflectivity at 1,00nm wavelength decreases by 12% and recording can be accomplished as shown in the figure. The reflectivity is reset to the state before the irradiation of light by heaing after the irradiation of light and the record is erased. Repetition of recording and erasing is also possible. |
