PURPOSE:To increase a recording speed and to obtain stable reproduction by consistituting a recording medium of a base body, a magnetic material and a thin film contg. a compd. having the heat conductivity smaller than the heat conductivity of said magnetic material. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer 12 consists of a granular or needlelike magnetic material 13 incorporated in a matrix 14. A magnetic metal or magnetic metallic oxide contg. a magnetic element such as nickel is used as the material 13. A compd. having the heat conductivity smaller than the heat conductivity of the material 13 is used as the matrix material 4. The matrix material is exemplified by at least one kind of metallic oxide in the compd. group consisting of TeO2, SiO2 and TiO2, other fluorine compd., iodine compd., sulfur compd. and org. pigment. The layer 12 is obtd. by disposing the material 13 and the material 14 in respectively individual boats, etc. for vapor deposition then depositing mixedly the same by evaporation or sputtering on a substrate 11. |
