ONE-SIDE SUBMERGED ARC WELDING METHOD

PURPOSE:To prevent extremely easily the low temp. cracking in a weld zone by removing the solidified slag formed on a front side bead after resting for a specified time. CONSTITUTION:A packing flux 4 layered and sprayed on a copper strap 3 is pressed onto the rear of butted materials 1, 1' along the weld line by a pushing mechanism such as an air hose 5 or the like. When submerged arc welding is performed from the front side by using a welding wire 8 and a front side flux 9, solidified slag 7 is formed on the weld metal. The solidified slag 7 formed on the front side bead is removed after allowing said slag to stand for >=20min.
