The invention relates to appliances of the "chopper" type making it possible to shred the vine tendrils remaining on the ground after cutting. This appliance which can be fitted to a straddling tractor receives its energy from a pump forming part of the tractor equipment. It comprises a hydraulic motor 2, which transmits, by means of a belt and pulley transmission 4, a rotational movement to two shafts provided at their lower ends with discs 6 and shredding arms 7, the set of discs and shredding arms revolving horizontally at ground level, snatch up the tendrils, pull them inside a casing 1 in which they are shredded. Two adjustable flanges allow the appliance to be positioned with respect to the ground. The shredded tendrils are discharged via a movable flap 9 situated to the rear of the casing. The absence of cutting elements allows its use on stony, dirty or uneven ground. <IMAGE>
