Method for preparing N-oxiranemethane N,N,N-trialkylammonium compounds by reacting epichlorhydrin with a dialkylamine to form a hydroxy compound, cooling the hydroxy compound, increasing the concentration of hydroxy ions in the reaction mixture to form a compound of the formula <IMAGE> and reacting this latter compound at room temperature in acetonitrile with a benzyl compound, for example benzyl bromide. |
