ORGANIC-TYPE BRAKE LININGS FREE OF ASBESTOS

An organic-type brake lining (20) is provided composed of carbonaceous material and metallic powders. The use of asbestos in the organic-type brake lining is eliminated without significant alteration of properties. The physical and chemical characteristics and properties of asbestos have been replaced by similar percentages of carbonaceous material, such that the comparative testing demonstrates improved properties for the organic-type brake lining (20), from which asbestos has been eliminated.
