PURPOSE:To facilitate the manufacture of a cross-shaped shaft of a universal joint by placing a cylindrical grease keeper, having a flange and longitudinal grooves on the outside and made of an oil-resistant plastic material, in an oil sump on a shaft part connected to the lubricating port of said cross-shaped shaft. CONSTITUTION:An oil controller and a thrus washer are provided in one body being formed into a grease keeper 24, which is inserted with pressure into an oil sump 14 on the end part of a lubricating port 12 with an interference being provided. The flange 26 of the grease keeper 24 also serves as the thrust washer. Four grooves 18 are provided on the longitudinal direction of the grease keeper, and four grooves 30 are provided on the bearing cap side of the flange 26 while four grooves 32 are also provided on the other side of the flange 26. The grease keeper 24 is made of a relatively hard oil-resistant plastic or porous material. |
