PURPOSE:To enable formation of a magnetized pattern changing periodically on the surface of a magnetic recording body by moving a master magnetic material layer at roughly the same speed as the speed of the magnetic recording body. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording body 1 consists of a magnetic material layer 2 and a base layer 3 and moves in the direction of an arrow. A heating head 4 for heating the body 1 according to an image signal, a magnetic field generator 5, a master magnetic material layer 7 on the surface of a hollow cyllinder 6, and a magnet 8 for generating a bias magnetic field in the cylinder 6 are respectively provided. The cylinder 6 rotates in the same direction as the body 1 at roughly the same surface speed. On the other hand, the magnet 8 is fixed. The magnetized pattern which is uniform in the transverse direction of the layer 7 and changes periodically in the circumferential direction is formed on the layer 7. |
