1530207 Detection of bilirubin MILES LABORATORIES Inc 1 Oct 1976 [2 Oct 1975] 40842/76 Heading G1B A test composition for detecting bilirubin in a urine sample comprises a diazonium compound which reacts with urinary bilirubin to produce a colour change, a constituent capable of producing an acidic pH in the sample, and a water-soluble adduct of an organic sulfonic acid or salt thereof which is not a diazonium compound with urea or a derivative of urea, the adduct having a potentiating effect on reaction of the diazonium compound with urinary bilirubin in an acidic environment, the composition being in the form of for example a tablet, a liquid or a carrier impregnated composition. The urea derivative may be a tetromethylurea, urazole, 2-imidazoline, caffeine, dyphylline, uridine, 1, 3-dimethyl-6, -7-diphenyl lumazine, 5-bromouracil, 7, 8-benzo-1, 3-diazospiro- [4, 5] decane-2, 4-dione, parabaric acid, 1-methylhydantoin, uracil, -1-methylxanthine. |
