PURPOSE:To simplify a gate power supply and lower power by regenerating discharge changes from an absorber capacitor to a power supply for supplying gate reverse currents and storing one part of the charges in a storage means and using it gate forward currents. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 8 for supplying forward currents is opened and a switch 5 for supplying reverse currents is closed under the state in which a self-extinction type thyristor 1 is conducted, gate reverse currents flow through a gate from a cathode for the thyristor 1 through a capacitor 6 from a DC power supply 4, and the capacitor 6 is charged. When the thyristor 1 is arc-extinguished, main currents charge an absorber capacitor 2. When the switch 5 is opened and the switch 8 is closed by an ignition command, gate forward currents are fed from the capacitor 6 and the thyristor 1 is ignited, and currents by the discharge of the capacitor 2 are regenerated to the power supply 4. Accordingly, a gate power supply is simplified, and power is lowered. |
