PURPOSE:To transfer images without using any ink ribbon, by a method wherein an ink is transferred onto a recording paper through a thin-walled rotary drum. CONSTITUTION:An ink 6 is applied to the outer peripheral surface of the drum 2 by an ink roller 3 while rotating the drum 2, and the ink 6 is successively brought to a front face of a thermal head 4. The head 4 is operated to generate heat by a controlling signal, the heat is transmitted to the ink 6 through the drum 2, whereby the ink 6 is thermally expanded, a part of the ink corresponding to a printing element generating heat is raised, and is transferred onto the recording paper 1, thereby printing a desired character or image. |
