A parallel arm windscreen wiper requires correct positioning of the pivot point for the parallel control arm relative to the axis of the drive spindle (26) for the wiper arm (14). This is achieved with the spindle (26) extending through the windscreen pane (24) by fixing a bracket (33) on to the sleeve (28) through which the spindle (26) passes, the outer end of the bracket (33) carrying a pivot stud for the control arm. The bracket is clamped against the end of a spacer tube (29) by a nut (32) and the spacer tube has tongues keyed into the bracket and the back plate (35) of the motor so that the orientation of the bracket is fixed. |
