1501602 Battery carrier H STEPHENS 29 March 1976 12546/76 Heading A4G [Also in Division H 1] A battery carrier comprises a rigid handle 1 of dielectric material, e.g. plastics or glass fibre, supporting at two spaced points U-springs 4, each comprising a pair of legs 6 and outwardly directed lugs 7 at the ends of the legs. In use the legs 6 are pressed together to enable the lugs to enter the filling well 8 of a battery case 9 and then the legs are released so that the lugs 7 engage beneath the lower edge of the filling well 8. As described the U-springs are retained in slots 2 at the ends of the handle 1 by portions 5 tightly fitting over the handle ends. The lugs 7 are greater in length than the radius of the filling well 8, and the lower ends of the legs 6 are enamelled to prevent corrosion. The handle may be made telescopic to adjust the spacing of the U-springs. |
