An additional leaf (4) of a table, fitted with two table-leaf halves (2 and 3) which can be pulled apart, can be lowered via erecting levers (5) from its position of use illustrated in Figure 2. The erecting levers (5) are loaded by compression springs (12) which automatically move the additional leaf (4) upwards as soon as those hinge pins (7), via which the erecting levers (5) are connected to angle straps (6) connected to the additional leaf (4), lie above the bearing pin (10), by means of which the erecting levers (5) are connected to bearing blocks (9) on fixed beams (8) of the table frame (1). The additional leaf (4) can be lowered so far downwards that the hinge pins (7) lie below the bearing pins (10). The compression springs (12) now exert a downwardly directed force on the additional leaf (4), such that the latter is automatically secured. <IMAGE>
