A glue basin for an apparatus for gluing flat articles to paper sheets or the like contains a glue chamber formed by additional walls, where the free space between the glue chamber and the side walls of the glue basin acts as an overflow. The liquid build-up formed between the end walls of a dip roller and the adjacent wall of the glue chamber owing to the rotation of the dip roller can thus flow out over the edges of the glue chamber without causing a soiling of the adjacent portions of the whole apparatus. At the same time, the liquid level of the glue or adhesive within the glue chamber can be sufficiently high that a complete wetting of the dip roller with glue is ensured.
