<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture inexpensively porous Al having superior mechanical properties by cladding Al with a thin layer of an Al-Si alloy, cutting the resulting material into chips, putting the cut material in a metallic mold, and heating it in a heating furnace. CONSTITUTION:Al or an Al alloy as a core material is clad with a thin layer of an Al-Si alloy, and the resulting material is cut into chips, fibers or wires. The cut material is degrased and washed with ethanol or coated with a flux, and it is put in a metallic mold of a desired shape. The mold is heated to the liquidus line temp. of the Al-Si alloy + or -10 deg.C in a heating furnace to melt-bond the cut material with the Al-Si alloy. Thus, porous Al having superior mechanical properties such as ductility and contg. no foreign matter is inexpensively obtd. in a short time.</p> |
