PURPOSE:To perform a uniform intensity distribution of an exciting light in the section of a laser rod and to enhance the light collecting efficiency by employing a laser exciting lamp which has high scattering property on the inner wall of a discharge tube. CONSTITUTION:A laser rod 2 and an exciting lamp 3 are opposed in parallel by providing cooling flow tubes 4, 5, and the central axes are disposed to coincide with the focal axis of a light collector made of a current collecting cylinder of elliptical section. The lamp 3 is printed with sand on the inner wall 42 of a discharge tube 41. A light 44 generated in the tube 41 is scattered on the surface. Accordingly, the light emitting distribution 31 seen from the exterior of the lamp 3 becomes uniform over the entire lamp 3. Thus, the intensity distribution 32 at the position of the rod 2 has the same distribution as the intensity distribution 31, and the intensity has substantially the same uniformity and amplitude as those. In other words, uniform gain distribution can be obtained in the rod 2, and the exciting light can be efficiently collected to the rod 2. |
