The invention relates to an expansion engine driven by means of compressed gases or by means of the explosive force of burning gases, with meshing rotary pistons or rotors synchronised via a pair of gear wheels, in which the rotors are either subjected to the compressed gas or supplied with driving gases from an internal combustion unit integrated into the engine and coupled synchronously to the latter. The engine is distinguished by a particularly high power output and freedom from malfunctions and can be used as a prime mover for many applications.
