An outsole 1, in the form of a dish, is injection-moulded in plastic. A prefabricated shank (waist) piece 2 with cells 3 which are open downwards and having bevelled vertical edges 8 is positioned and imprinted into the material of the outsole 1 when still warm and soft, in order to ensure the leaktightness of the cells 3. An upper or vamp 5 made from plastic is then overmoulded on the outsole 1/shank (waist) piece 2 assembly. An insole 6 and wear and adherence half-soles 7 may be produced in a single piece with the upper or vamp 5. The invention applies particularly to the production of sports boots (shoes), particularly for cross-country skiing. <IMAGE>
