PURPOSE:To record signals of both of a high-quality mode and a low-quality mode without changing the tape running speed by distributing and recording signals of the high-quality mode to both of odd-numbered tracks and even-numbered tracks and distributing and recording signals of the low-quality mode to only odd or even numbered tracks. CONSTITUTION:The first sequence (a) is interleaved at intervals of a length corresponding to d-number of samples in the lengthwise direction and the breadthwise direction of a magnetic tape with (2+2m)-number of blocks as a unit, and a synchronizing code SYNC and an error correction code CRC are added. The second sequence (b) is interleaved similarly. That is, signals of the first and the second sequences (a) and (b) are interleaved in respective sequences to distribute data, and data are so arranged that error correction can be performed in respective sequences independently of each other. Signals of the first sequence (a) out of signals of the first and the second sequences (a) and (b) where data are distributed in this manner are recorded on odd numbered tracks Tr1, Tr3... on the magnetic tape, and signals of the second sequence (b) are recorded on even numbered tracks Tr2, Tr4.... |
