Safety device for drills, especially for sensitive drills, which comprises a protection screen, a system for holding the workpiece clamping assembly against rotational movements, and means for controlling and checking the screen, consisting of a cam actuated by a lowering lever and designed so as to ensure, on the one hand, that the screen is its upper position and, on the other hand, the screen-lowering movement relationship in accordance with claims 1 and 5 of the main patent, this device being characterised in that the said safety and protection screen 12 is mounted on a support 10 comprising guide rollers 14 rolling in fixed slideways 16 mounted on the body of the drill, and in that the said cam 22 for controlling and checking the lowering movement of the said screen includes a finger 34 interacting with a roller 20, provided on the said support. <IMAGE>
