In a data processing network having a plurality of data processing stations 11 communicating over a bus 10 with each station inductively coupled 12 to the bus data is transmitted in a binary coded form in which a zero is represented by a pair of oppositely poled pulses and a one is represented by the absence of any pulse. The transmitter circuit includes an energy saving circuit for recovering energy from the back- swing of each pulse. Preferably the bus consists of a twisted pair of wires. Each station is coupled to the bus by a core with two transmitters windings. Each winding is connected in series with a respective capacitor. The capacitors are charged through a diode circuit and are selectively discharged through the windings to generate the pulses on the bus. A separate receive core is provided.
