PURPOSE:To improve the mechanical strength of an open-top sealing plate by forming the open-top sealing plate, which has the zinc negative electrode of a button-shaped alkali cell built-in, by means of plating a nickel layer on a stainless steel which has been previously copper-clad. CONSTITUTION:An open-top sealing plate 10, which has the zinc electrode 9 of a button-shaped alkali cell built-in, is formed using a plate made as followed: A stainless steel 2 of 182mum in thickness is clad with a copper 3 of 16mum in thickness, and, after being formed into a hooplike shape, a nickel layer 1 of 2mum in thickness is plated on the stainless steel 2; thus a plate of 200mum in total thickness, consisting of three layers of nickel, stainless steel, and copper, is formed. Therefore, by making the nickel layer 1 on the open-top sealing plate 10 as thin as 1-5mum through plating process to increase the thickness ratio of the stainless steel 2 mechanically stronger than the nickel layer 1, the mechanical strength can be made higher, improving the leakage-resistant characteristic of the cell. |
