PURPOSE:To prevent the falling of a refractory by the effect of shelves and to prolong the life of a blast furnace by positioning horizontal shelves in the iron shell of the furnace at an interval at the worn part of the wall and by spraying a castable refractory on the worn part to embed the shelves in the refractory. CONSTITUTION:Horizontal shelves 10 are positioned in the iron shell 12 of a blast furnace at an interval at the worn part of the wall while leaving a gap between each of the shelves 10 and the worn surface 3. A castable refractory 16 is sprayed on the surface of the worn part around the shelves 10 and the fronts of the shelves 10 to embed the shelves 10 in the refractory 16, and the refractory 16 is also filled into the spaces 24 behind the shelves 10 under pressure from the outside 18 of the furnace. By this method, the falling of the refractory is prevented, and the life of the furnace is prolonged. |
