In a table having a table top which is adjustable in height and inclination, the table top (4) is attached to supports (5, 6) in which a shaft (8) is mounted in each case. The ends (9) of the shafts (8) project beyond the side edges of the table top (4) and engage in hollow side parts (1, 2) of the table frame. Attached inside the hollow side parts (1, 2) on the ends (9) of the shafts (8) are toothed wheels (10) which engage in vertically arranged, stationary racks (12). Located opposite the racks (12) in one of the table frames are second racks (21) which engage in the toothed wheels (10) from the other side in their position of rest and thus fix them in their position. The second racks (21) can be deflected from their position of rest to the extent that they release the assigned toothed wheel (10). The released toothed wheel (10) is then adjustable in height by rolling off relative to the stationary rack (12) and can be fixed in any desired position by returning the second rack (21) into the position of rest. <IMAGE>
