PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance and mechanical strength by coating a quartz tube which contains plural quartz fiber wire elements with butyl silicate. CONSTITUTION:Quartz containing a dopant or pure quartz is used for a core and coated with pure quartz or quartz containing a dopant which has a smaller refractive index than the core to form an element wire 1. Numbers of element wires are arrayed closely in the quartz tube 2 and drawn at a time into one body. Then, the outside of the quartz tube 2 is coated with a paint formed by dissolving butyl silicate in a solvent of isopropyl alcohol, etc., and then heated in an electric furnace to form a coating layer 3. Thus, the product having superior heat resistance and mechanical strength is manufactured. |
