The invention relates to flying machines with rotating wings, an autogiro helicopter hybrid. The starting point is the autogiro, by reason of its great mechanical simplicity and of its lightness. The innovation consists in permanently transmitting a fraction of the power of the engine to the lift rotor. This power part is limited in order: - not to have too heavy and complex a rotor reducing gear; - to cause the blades of the lift rotor, during the whole flight, to describe a positive, moderate incidence plane. The necessary anti-tongue function, but substantially reduced in value compared to a helicopter, is obtained to very good effect by slightly offsetting the propeller to one side. On still more elaborate machines, a temporary association with a reaction rotor makes it possible to produce a true helicopter for brief periods. The aim sought is to obtain a high performance machine with high energy efficiency, less complex than a pure helicopter which, for its part, can hover for a long time, but rarely makes use of this facility.
