PURPOSE:To enlarge just a part of a transmission original by a facsimile equipment at the transmission side and to obtain an enlarged record picture at the reception side, by reading and enlarging only a specified area marked on the original. CONSTITUTION:When a facsimile equipment starts reading a transmission original, a mark detector 16 supplies the read signal for the 1st main scan line delivered from a reading part 14 and discriminates whether or not a black picture signal having the length equivalent to a mark is contained. When the mark is detected, a CPU11 recognizes that the partial enlargement is carried out and discriminates the start point of an enlarged area in the main scan direction. This discrimination data is registered to an area register 17 as the position data on the start point in the main scan direction. Then the normal reading and picture processings are carried out to start the normal transmission. Then a picture is enlarged by the CPU11 at a place where a subscan mark exists.
