The power capacitor (2), which is connected to an AC power supply (4) in series with a semiconductor switch (1) and an inductor coil (3), is completely discharged at the end of the switched-on interval by means of a single-stage or multi-stage oscillating discharge process, with the magnitude of the power supply voltage (UL) increasing and with energy being emitted to said AC power supply. The discharged power capacitor is connected in the AC power supply which is to be compensated, when the voltage (Uc) on the power capacitor is equal to the voltage (UL) in the AC power supply, as a function of the connection command (Son) from a measurement system (6) which detects the reactive volt-ampere requirement. <IMAGE> |
