The present invention relates to a method for fitting a sealing cap on a packaging box and a packaging box obtained by this method. The box consists of a tubular portion 11 closed at one end and the other end of which is fitted with a ring 18 provided with a rim 17 and with a lateral bearing surface 19. The lateral bearing surface 19 is intended to be welded against the internal wall of the box near its upper end. The rim 17 is intended to support a sealing cap 14 fixed by heat sealing. The sealing cap is preferably protected by a lid 15. The method of manufacture according to the invention makes it possible to produce a sealed box, effective for packaging foodstuffs, of very low manufacturing cost. <IMAGE>
