PRODUCTION OF ARTIFICIAL FUR

PURPOSE:To obtain an artificial fur resmebling natural fur, by giving pile length difference of both hair components to a napped knitted or woven fabric using mixed spun yarns, etc. of a guard hair component having a specific shape and a down hair component having a small fineness. CONSTITUTION:Slivers or spun yarns obtained by mixed spinning a guard hair component consisting of a thermoplastic polymer having a fineness thereof as large as 10-200 deniers and fibers within 50-300mum length range in the long axis direction of the fiber cross section of plural fibers having a hollow shape and a down hair component (preferred example; acrylic fibers) consisting of fibers having a fineness as small as 0.5-10 deniers and preferably >=50% shrinkage are used to give a napped artificial fur having pile length difference due to both hair components. Acrylic fibers having animal hairlike feeling are preferred for the guard hair component fibers. Examples of the preferred mixed fibers include those containing 30wt% guard hair component having 51mm. fiber length and 70wt% down hair component having 25mm. fiber length.
