The invention relates to a device for slicing logs of wood produced with the aid of a fine and sharpened blade 1 fixed overhanging the end of a frame 3 by a pin 4 situated in front of the fine edge 10 of the blade 1; the said frame longitudinally guides a plate 23 for thrusting the log. This oscillating plate 28 ensures, via projections made on its face 35, the holding of the log. This same plate 28 comprises a blind hollow 36 made facing the blade 1 ensuring the thrust of the log via two surfaces symmetric to the fine edge 10 of the blade and allowing the slicing of the said log, and contributing to the mechanical behaviour of the blade 1. Other than slicing wood, the device according to the invention allows, via an automatic grasping member, the sharpening of stakes. <IMAGE>
