The invention relates to a hydraulic cylinder arrangement with two working cylinders acting in parallel for lifting and lowering a boom, jib or the like of a materials handling device. According to the invention, the pressure spaces of the working cylinders are each connected via a line to the pressure spaces of a cylinder/measuring-piston arrangement having a double-acting measuring piston and continuous piston rod, one section of the piston rod is passed through a cylinder-housing wall into a pressure-medium-free chamber of a housing extension and has an appropriately highly preloaded, double-acting compression spring in the area of the chamber, and the other section of the piston rod is passed through a cylinder-housing cap to the outside to the extent that pressure changes exceeding a predetermined degree can be visually perceived and/or optically or acoustically indicated.
