A device for the air-assisted injection of fuel into the intake line of a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine is described, which has a line system branching off from the intake line upstream of an intake distributor and opening back in immediately upstream of the inlet valves assigned to the individual cylinders of the internal combustion engine, in which line system an air pump (25) delivering a partial air flow, a fuel feed device (14) adding fuel to this partial air flow as a function of the operating state of the internal combustion engine (1) and a distributing device (10) distributing the fuel-carrier air mixture, flowing through a mixing chamber (16, 17), to injection lines (23) assigned to the individual cylinders of the internal combustion engine are arranged. In order to prevent the build-up of fuel in front of the closed inlet valves of the internal combustion engine, it is proposed that the distributing device (10) be designed to connect to the mixing chamber (16, 17) only that injection line (23) assigned to the cylinder (2) which is currently on the intake stroke of the internal combustion engine (1), this distributing device being formed by a rotary slide valve (20) driven continuously or progressively synchronously with the engine speed. <IMAGE>
