PURPOSE:To minimize the voltage reduction of a nonaqueous solvent battery during its initial stage of large current electric discharge and shorten the time for voltage recovery by coating at least part of the surface of the negative electrode with a vinyl chloride-vinylidene chloride copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical negative electrode 2 made of metallic lithium and coated with a vinyl chloride-vinylidene chloride copolymer, is pressed and fixed to the inner surface of a can 1. The negative electrode 2 is made by pressing and fixing a metallic lithium plate to the inner surface of the can 1 and then pouring a 2% tetrahydrofuran solution of the copolymer up to the top end of the metallic lithium plate, followed by removing the solution and drying the plate. A positive electrode 5 prepared by pressing and fixing a cylindrical porous carbon plate 4 to the outer surface of a metallic current collector 3 consisting of a cylindrical stainless steel net, is installed inside the negative electrode 2. |
