A description is given of a multi-shelled chimney having at least one inner pipe, a heat-insulating layer surrounding the inner pipe or pipes, and a casing enclosing the heat-insulating layer on the outside. In order to prevent the transfer of humidity or flue-gas portions from the inner pipe into the casing, said chimney is characterised in that the inner pipes are of a round or oval cross-section, the heat-insulating layer surrounds a space having an essentially rectangular cross-section, and air ducts are formed which pass through between the inner pipes and the heat-insulating layer and are open at both ends.
