An electrical switching device, which is customary on motor vehicles, is provided for the functions of dipped headlights, main beam and headlamp flasher and has switching means assigned to an actuation element, is proposed, in which switching device, in order to achieve outstanding electrical and mechanical properties, two independent microswitches are assigned to the actuation element in such a way that one microswitch can be actuated before the other, that the microswitch which can be actuated first is constructed as a push-button switch with closing function and the microswitch which can be subsequently actuated is constructed as a locking switch with switch-over function and that the output of the push-button switch, which is connected directly to the vehicle's electrical system with its input, is connected to one output, connected to the main-beam headlamps, of the locking switch which is connected by its other output to the dipped-beam headlamps and by its input is also connected to the vehicle's electrical system via a travel light switch.
