In a heating boiler, the smoke gas wall of which is acted upon only partly during partial operation of the burner, that part of the water jacket which belongs to the part of the smoke gas wall which is not acted upon is closed off according to the invention in order that during part-load operation only as small as possible a quantity of water needs to be heated.
