PURPOSE:To contrive enhancement of printing quality, by a method wherein the speed of a motor for selecting a type on a type head is controlled according to the magnitude of a positional error in terms of the direction and amount of movement from the current position of the head and an objective type position. CONSTITUTION:An objective type position is calculated on the basis of type information sent from a central processor (CPU) 7. An objective type position signal and a signal from an incremental and decremental counter 5 indicative of the current type position of a daisy-type type head are inputted into the first adder-subtractor 9. On the basis of the signals, the adder-subtractor 9 calculates the positional error in terms of the direction and amount of movement of a type-selecting motor 1 for moving the head from the current position to the objective type position. The absolute value of the error is inputted into the first converter 10 and the first comparator 20, while a sign indicative of the rotating direction is inputted into the second adder-subtractor 11. The converter 10 outputs a rotation designation speed value for the head corresponding to the absolute value of the error, whereby a value depending on the printing speed is set. The speed value outputted from the converter 10 is inputted into the second adder-subtractor. |
