1. A device wherein the device comprises a feed mechanism, a cutting mechanism, a splitting mechanism, a feed sensor and a control circuit, and
the feed sensor comprises an end sensor and is arranged to detect location of a to be moved by the feed mechanism in relation to a predetermined point in the device, using the end sensor that is arranged to detect a forward end and a tail end of the log at a known distance from the cutting mechanism; the control circuit is arranged to control the feed mechanism to feed the log for a preset length on the basis of the location of the log detected by the feed sensor such that the feed mechanism, controlled by the control circuit, is arranged to feed the log for the sum of the preset length and the known distance into the device after the end sensor has detected the forward end of the log at the known distance from the cutting mechanism, and to determine the length of the log on the basis of the detection of the tail end of the log and to set for a second wood block other than last wood block of the log to be cut by a second length, in case the length of the log is not evenly divisible by the preset length of the wood block, and to control the feed mechanism to feed the log for the second length to cut the second wood block; the cutting mechanism to cut a wood block from the log longer than a predetermined length when the feed mechanism has fed the log for the predetermined length; and the splitting mechanism to split the block cut from the log. |
