The method is characterised in that the bar 3 of gear wheels is clamped, repeatedly, in a rotary collet chuck 1 and rotated by the latter, at least one individual gear wheel 300 being separated from the bar 3 of gear wheels while the latter is clamped and the bar 3 of gear wheels being only held, each time it is clamped, at locations which are removed during the separation and/or during a prior machining operation. c.
