Washing machine having a laundry drum which receives the laundry to be washed or spun and can be driven by a motor in the washing and spinning cycles and which is located inside a tub, and having an emptying pump arranged in a run-off line. So that the laundry no longer comes into contact with liquor or fluid after the end of the washing cycle and in the operating segment following this, the washing liquor is drained off from the tub immediately after the end of the washing cycle and even before the start of the spinning cycle, and the spinning fluid is discharged continuously during the spinning cycle.
