The invention relates to a device allowing the underwater harvesting of brown algae, associating the sorting, cutting and raising to the surface in a continuous way, the stems being separated from the leaves. It consists of a main suction flume 1 having, on its front face, a sorting comb 2 protecting the wheel-type cutting bars mounted on a slideway. The main flume 1 sucks up and cuts only the culms (stems). A second flume 3 capping the first sucks up the leafy part of the algae. Each flume 1 and 3 terminates in a hydropneumatic sucker 5 and 9 transporting the material thus sorted and cut up to the surface. Grated parts 8 generate a transporting water stream and prevent the formation of a stationary water wave. The towing of the assembly is ensured by hauling arms 21, of which the axles 19 mounted on eccentrics are adjustable. A safety device 11 makes it possible to overturn the dredge in the event of blockage 12 and 13. The device of the invention is intended more particularly for the industrial harvesting of Hyperborea laminaria. <IMAGE>
