PURPOSE:To make possible automatic adjustment to a correct exposure without using mechanical constituting parts and to reduce the size and weight of an electronic camera device by constituting a titled device in such a manner that a driving signal for writing/reading out of a solid state image pickup element is electrically processed according to the illuminance of the image plane thereof by which the exposing time in the solid state image pickup element is made inversely proportional to the illuminance of the image plane thereof. CONSTITUTION:The automatic exposing device is provided with a synchronizing signal generating circuit 12 which generates the synchronizing signal necessary for driving the solid state image pickup element 4, a shutter signal generating circuit 30 which applies a shutter signal only when a shutter switch 13 is on, a flip-flop circuit 14 for generating the signal which rises in response with the rise of the first synchronizing signal after the rise of the shutter signal and falls at the fall of said first synchronizing signal and a monostable circuit 15 constituted of a monostable multivibrator. Said device is further provided with an integrating circuit 16 which contains a photoconductive resistance element, a gate circuit 17 which gates the output signal from the circuit 12 and a driver circuit 18 which drives the element 4 in response with the signal from the circuit 17.
